The Method

Let's Get Cooking.

A few simple steps and you've got a cheeseburger you can fold in half.

  1. Get Your Toppings Ready

Finely dice the onion, shred the lettuce and get your pickles, cheese and burger sauce ready. Keep everything within reach because these tacos come together quickly once the cooking starts.

  2. Smash the Mince

Take approximately 60g of beef and pork mince per taco. Press it directly onto one side of a small flour tortilla, spreading it as thinly and evenly as possible. The thinner the mince, the quicker and more evenly it cooks.

  3. Season It Up

Sprinkle the mince with salt, pepper and garlic seasoning. Luke uses a ready-made SPG blend, but your usual seasoning will do the job.

  4. Meat Side Down

Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat with a very small amount of oil. Place the tortilla into the pan with the mince facing down. Press lightly to ensure good contact with the hot surface. Cook until the mince is browned and cooked through.

  5. Flip and Add Cheese

Carefully flip the taco so the tortilla is now against the pan. Add a slice of burger cheese over the cooked mince and allow it to melt while the tortilla becomes lightly golden and crisp. Make sure the mince is thoroughly cooked before serving.

  6. Load It Up

Remove the taco from the pan. Add a little burger sauce, diced onion, sliced pickles and shredded lettuce. Finish with another drizzle of sauce if you're feeling generous.

  7. Fold and Get Stuck In

Fold it like a taco and eat it while it's hot. Crispy tortilla, juicy burger mince, melted cheese and all the classic burger toppings. Chances are you'll be making another one.

Luke's Pro Tip

The secret is getting the mince really thin on the tortilla. Too thick and the outside will brown before the middle cooks. Luke uses a beef and pork mince blend for a little extra fat and flavour. And if you're travelling, don't overcomplicate it. Store-bought burger sauce works a treat.
